Library Orientations
Faculty Orientation Request Drop-in Orientation Schedule
The librarians offer various types of library orientations that
target the diverse needs and busy schedules of SCC faculty and students:
1. Customized orientations that are tailored to your pre-determined
assignment or course objective. You choose the topic and the date of the
orientation. Instructors attend these hands-on sessions with their classes
during the regular class meeting time. The orientations cover either
searching for books, e-books and journal/newspaper articles using the online
Research Databases or best practices searching the Internet. They are
normally held in the LR220 classroom.
2. The Drop-in Workshop Series is offered throughout the semester,
including evenings, Saturdays, and an
online tutorial. Students attend these on their own time.
There are two face-to-face versions and one online tutorial. Students must
sign up in advance for the 50-minute face-to-face sessions. The tutorial can
be done at any time.
Students will receive a "Proof of Attendance" slip after successfully completing a face-to-face class and a “Proof of Completion” for the tutorial. The face-to-face sessions are typically held in the LR220 classroom. Students are encouraged to take all the sessions during the course of the semester. Sign-up sheets for the face-to-face classes are located at the Reference Desk on the second floor of the library.

We look forward to seeing you and your students this semester!
