Panthers Sweep Butte College Over the Weekend

Sac City’s baseball team improved to 6-4 on the season after a 3-game sweep of Butte College over the weekend in a home-home-home series.

On Thursday in Oroville, the Panthers beat the Roadrunners 10-2 as Alex Muzzi went 2-for-4 with a triple, RBI and two runs scored. Drake Atlee cracked two doubles and Matt Poulin went 2-for-4 with a home run and 3 RBI. Starting pitcher Ben Ritchey improved to 3-0 after allowing two runs on seven hits in eight innings of work.

The Panthers picked up Friday right where they left off on Thursday by downing Butte 4-2 at Union Stadium. Sac City scored three runs in the fifth inning to take command of the game. Alex Muzzi continued his hot streak by going 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored. Anthony Fellman and Nolan Ryan each had two hits for the Panthers, while Steve Dani picked up the win in relief.

Sac City earned the sweep with a 9-3 win on Saturday back in Oroville. Once again, Alex Muzzi led the way with a home run, double and 2 RBI as the Panthers broke open a close game with four runs in the 7th inning. Brandon Nunn notched the victory in relief.

The Panthers play host to Santa Rosa CC on Thursday at Union Stadium. First pitch is set for 2 p.m.
