SCC Team Wins Fundraising Award

SCC Nursing faculty and students supported Professor Cheryl Strella by participating in the “Walk to Defeat ALS” at Raley Field on Oct. 3. Strella won the top fundraising award for the event, and her fundraising team, called “Cheryl’s Angels,” ranked third.

ALS, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, is a type of motor neuron disease that causes nerve cells to gradually break down and die. It is also know as “Lou Gehrig’s disease” after the famous baseball player who died because of complications from the disease in the 1930s.
