SCC Wrestlers Win 5th Straight Conference Title

Sacramento City College Wrestling took another step in the Championship category by defeating Delta College 53-0 to go undefeated in BIG 8 competition and rap up their 5th consecutive Conference title in a row.

The Panthers dominated in all meets this year scoring 2 shut outs and winning 37 of the 40 individual matches wrestled against the BIG 8 teams. SCC should score a number of awards for All Conference when the results are tabulated the first week of December.

In the match with Delta, SCC was led by falls by Josh Ploke – 125 and Chris Vaughan – 157. The Panthers used 16 different wrestlers in the duals this year and 14 of them went undefeated, led by Dylan Forzani, Chris Vaughan and Trevor Wright who all went 4-0 on the season.

The Panthers head to Foothill HS in Palo Cedro to take on the NJCAA teams of the Northwest in the California vs NJCAA Challenge on Saturday, November 14. Simpson University of Redding is the host team. Sacramento City College (#4 in State), Fresno City College (#1 in State) and Cerritos College (#3 in State) will go against Clackamas College (OR) (#4 in NJCAA), Highline College (WA) (#17 in the NJCAA) and Southwest Oregon College (Unranked). Also competing will be Frosh/Soph teams from Southern Oregon and Simpson University.
