The West Sacramento Center has partnered with YoloArts and the Yolo County Veterans Service Office to host a three-city traveling art exhibit celebrating veterans.
“Positive Reflections: From Combat to Community” showcases works inspired and created by veterans.
The goal of the exhibition is to contribute to the public understanding of veterans’ experiences and honor them as they reintegrate from combat to civilian life.
On opening day at the West Sacramento Center, there was a Veterans Resource Fair from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., accompanied by blues music by Joe Lev and Friends. An artists reception was held from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., and featured a reading of “Positive Reflections,” a commissioned poem by Davis Poet Laureate Andy Jones.
The project is funded by a Veterans in the Arts grant award to YoloArts from the California Arts Council.
