A group of about 40 faculty, staff and students met early Friday morning to learn about the possibilities of starting a “maker space” at Sacramento City College.
Also known as “hacker labs,” maker spaces are places where tools and materials are available for people to come together and collaborate, explore, tinker, build and create.
The Maker Movement is rapidly growing at educational institutions around the world. The California Community Colleges is offering a seed grant and implementation grants to community colleges statewide who join the movement.
At the meeting on Friday, SCC took its first step toward creating a maker space for innovation!
