Fall 2017 Professional Development and Convocation

Fall 2017 Professional Development week begins, today,  August 14-17, leading up to Convocation on Friday, August 18.

August 14-17 offers exciting opportunities for faculty and staff to participate in professional development activities before the semester begins.

Convocation on August 18 will kick off the semester and features remarks from Chancellor Brian King, college president Michael Gutierrez, as well as guest presenters on current topics relevant to the District and college.

There is a continental breakfast the morning of August 18, prior to Convocation, from 7 – 8:45 a.m. in City Cafe. Faculty and staff should contact their division office for the times and locations of division, department and program meetings following Convocation.

The new PD WEEK WEBSITE offers many great resources to help you plan for your professional development and Convocation including:

  • Information about all 2017 PD Week events, including workshops and Convocation.
  • A day at a glance “Thursday – Grid View” page. Designed primarily for mobile use, this page allows you to quickly and easily navigate events on the go!
  • Forms and other PD resources.

Please note: The name has changed from “Flex Week” to “PD Week,” short for Professional Development Week, because “flex” is a term specific to faculty, while “PD” is inclusive of all employees.
