While you're welcome to make a trip to the main campus and visit the library in the Learning Resource Center, you can access some important library services from the Davis Center.
Getting Reserve Books
A limited number of currently assigned textbooks are available at the Davis Center. These items can typically be checked out for two hours. To see if the Center has a textbook, look for it in the LOIS catalog; "SCC Davis Center" will be listed under "Location".

Checking Out Books
Books, DVDs, and other library materials can be delivered to the Davis Center from any Los Rios library. When you find the item you want in the LOIS catalog, click the Request button. You will be prompted to fill out a form; under "Pickup Location," choose "SCC Davis Center." The items will arrive at the Center in 1-4 days.
Most materials can be checked out for three weeks and can be renewed once (go to the "My Record" section of the LOIS catalog to renew books online). For more information, see the library Circulation Policy (pdf file).

Accessing Subscription Databases
All subscription databases and e-books can be accessed directly from outreach center computer labs. Currently enrolled students, faculty, and staff can also access these resources from off campus; you will be prompted to enter your Los Rios ID and password.
Using UC Davis, Yolo County and Sacramento Public Libraries
SCC students are eligible for limited borrowing privileges from the UC Davis library. For a fee of $12.50 per quarter, students may check out up to five books at a time. To obtain borrowing privileges, bring your Student Access card, proof of current enrollment, and proof of California residence (e.g. California Driver's License or utility bill) to the Circulation Desk of Shields Library.
UC Davis databases and e-journals can be used from computers located inside a UC Davis library. SCC students are not eligible to access these resources from off campus.
Get a Yolo County and/or Sacramento Public Library card to expand your selection of books and access additional full-text databases. Bring valid California photo ID to any branch library to get your card. Sacramento Public Library also offers temporary e-cards.
Getting Help
You can get help from an SCC librarian in person on the 2nd floor of the Learning Resource Center at the main campus or by phone, e-mail, or instant messaging. See the Library Help page for more information. You can also send a text message to (916) 538-4110.
