Congratulations on choosing Sacramento City College as a path in your educational journey! For almost 100 years, we have proudly helped students prepare for a bright future full of endless possibilities, and in these complex economic times, our commitment to your success is as strong as ever. Whether you plan to transfer, earn a degree or certificate, or take classes for personal enrichment, you will find a very broad array of courses and services to get you where want to go.

Nestled in the heart of Sacramento, mere minutes away from the State Capitol, the college serves the entire metropolitan area. With campuses in Downtown, West Sacramento and Davis, our students mirror the diversity of our surrounding communities. We pride ourselves on creating a learning environment that nurtures the beautiful range of individuality in our student body, staff and faculty. Our myriad campus programs seek to inform and inspire students while promoting understanding and unity among all groups. In addition, we have forged meaningful relationships with local businesses and industries, which, over the years, have blossomed and created great opportunities for SCC students. For these reasons and many more, we are confident that you will leave SCC not only with superior academic knowledge, but also with the capacity to navigate an ever-changing local and global community.

Whether you're interested in trigonometry, creative writing, business, art or emerging green technologies, SCC faculty members are among the most knowledgeable in their discipline, and you will receive the best caliber of instruction possible. Research shows that students who attend SCC perform as well as or better than students who start at a four-year college or university. So take advantage of our small class sizes and get to know your professors!

In the following pages, you will find a suite of resources that will help you make the most of your time, here, at SCC. We encourage you to:

Visit the Student Support Services section. This section provides descriptions of all college programs and services. Discover how the Transfer and Counseling Centers can help you reach your academic goals.

Apply for financial aid. See how a Board of Governors Fee Waiver, a Pell Grant, a scholarship, or even a loan could help you pay for college.

Check out SCC's student organizations. This is an excellent way to build networks with other students who share your interests and academic goals.

Learn more about riding the Regional Transit Light Rail directly to the City College Station - it's a simple, thrifty and eco-friendly way to get to the main campus. Your Student Access card is your reduced rate transit pass, and it's good seven days a week during the fall and spring semesters.

Thank you for choosing Sacramento City College, where our vision is to "create a learning community that celebrates diversity, nurtures personal growth, and inspires academic and economic leadership." I am confident you will find many services, programs and people to help make this part of your journey enjoyable, enlightening and rewarding.

Most sincerely,

Kathryn E. Jeffery Signature
