Prerequisite Information

Many courses have prerequisite courses that must be completed and passed prior to enrollment.  Prerequisites are listed in the course description in eServices. Be sure you’ve met the prerequisites for a course before enrolling.  You will need to provide proof of passing the prerequisite course the first day of class with the exception of STAT 300.  Students enrolling in STAT 300 must have the prerequisite verified prior to enrollment.  Please see below.

PREREQUISITES
Students enrolling in STAT 300 must have their prerequisite course verified prior to enrollment.  This is only for STAT 300 students.

Meeting the Prerequisite with Los Rios Coursework or Assessment

The prerequisite to STAT 300 is Math 120 or 124 with a "C" or better; or placement through the assessment process.  The following Los Rios Courses also meet the prerequisite:  MATH 125, 300, 310, 315, 320, 325, 330, 334, 335, 340, 341, 342, 343, 344, 350, 351, 370, 400, 401, 402, 410, 420, 480, 481, and 482.

·         Students who earned a "C" or better in one of the prerequisite courses after the Summer 2003 term at a Los Rios College (ARC, CRC, FLC, or SCC) or who have assessed into STAT 300 by taking an assessment test at a Los Rios College within the last three years, have already had their prerequisite verified and can enroll in STAT 300 without providing additional documentation.

·           Students who are currently taking one of the prerequisite courses at a Los Rios College will be allowed to enroll in STAT 300 for an upcoming semester or term; but those who do not subsequently pass the prerequisite course will be dropped from STAT 300 by Admissions and Records after final grades are posted.

·           Students who earned a "C" or better in one of the prerequisite courses prior to the Fall 2003 term at a Los Rios College (ARC, CRC, FLC, or SCC) must take their transcripts (official or unofficial) to Admissions and Records (Rodda North 159) or the Davis Center or West Sac Center for assistance in order to enroll in STAT 300.

Meeting the Prerequisite with Coursework from outside Los Rios

When taken at a UC, CSU, or a California Community College outside of the Los Rios District, a course titled "intermediate Algebra" which serves as a prerequisite to Statistics at that institution, meets the prerequisite for STAT 300.  The following courses also meet the prerequisite for STAT 300 if taken at a UC, CSU, or a California Community College:  Pre Calculus, Calculus (of any kind), Differential Equations, and Linear Algebra.  Additionally, the following courses meet the prerequisite for STAT 300 if they are at least three semester units and have "Intermediate Algebra" as a prerequisite:  Statistics, Trigonometry, Business Math, Business Calculus, and Finite Math.

·           Students who earned a "C minus" or better in any of these courses at a UC, CSU, or a Calfiornia Community College outside of the Los Rios District must take their transcripts (official or unofficial) to Admissions and Records (Rodda North 159) or the Davis Center or West Sac Center for assistance in order to enroll in STAT 300.

·           MATH 1 from Sacramento State (CSUS) does not meet the prerequisite for STAT 300.

·           Students who earned a "C minus" or better in a math course more advanced than "Intermediate Algebra" from a UC, CSU, or California Community College, but that is not mentioned above, must take their transcripts (official or unofficial) along with a course description, to the Math, Statistics, and Engineering Division (South Gym 220) in order to petition for enrollment in STAT 300.

·         Students who earned a "C minus" or better in an Intermediate Algebra course or higher from a private or out-of-state school must take their transcripts (official or unofficial) along with a course description, to the Math, Statistics, and Engineering Division (South Gym 220) in order to petition for enrollment in STAT 300.

·         Students who are currently taking one of the prerequisite courses at a college outside the Los Rios District must take proof of their enrollment to the Math, Statistics, and Engineering Division (South Gym 220) in order to petition for enrollment in STAT 300.  If enrollment is allowed, those who do not subsequently pass the prerequisite course will be dropped from STAT 300 after the final grade for the prerequisite course is available.
