Counseling Mission Statement
Sacramento City College counselors recognize that education plays an important role in the improvement and enhancement of every individual throughout their life.
Our mission is to ensure that SCC students have access to all academic programs and student support services. We provide academic, career and personal counseling to assist students in the attainment of their educational goals.
Counseling Services Available
Counselors are available to assist you in clarifying and planning your academic goals. We can help you complete an educational plan for your certificate, associate degree and/or transfer curriculum. Human Career Development classes, taught by counselors, are designed to assist you in becoming a successful student. We can refer students with special learning needs to a variety of support services. If your needs require an appointment, please contact (916) 558-2204. Or if your matter is brief, we welcome you to stop by the Counseling Center, room RN 147, during our Quick Questions hours.
A career goal should be based on your own unique interests, personal values, aptitude, and life experiences. You and your counselor can explore and select the best major and career goal for you. For more information please contact our Career Center at (916) 558-2565.
We recognize that life does not always run smoothly. Going to school and dealing with obstacles that sometimes get in the way, can be a stressful experience. For that reason, we provide confidential, short-term, non-therapeutic counseling. To schedule an appointment please contact (916) 558-2204.
If you are experiencing acute and emotional distress that requires immediate attention, come directly to the Counseling Center in RN 147 or call (916) 558-2204 and request to see a crisis counselor.
