NEW FINANCIAL AID OFFICE HOURS BEGIN OCTOBER 23, 2009

The Financial Aid Office will be closed on Fridays Beginning October 23, 2009 to allow staff time to review and process the unprecedented number of financial aid applications received this year.

The Financial Aid Lab in B-153 will remain open on Fridays from 8:00am - 3:00pm where you may drop off documents and Staff will be happy to assist you with FAFSA on the Web, My City Aid, and completing the BOG Fee Waiver.

NEW STUDENT LOAN PROCESS AT SCC!!

The SCC 2009-10 Loan Program is now fully electronic, which will both simplify and expedite the delivery of funds.

All students who indicated an interest in receiving loans on their FAFSA have been offered a loan and will be sent an award letter no later than September 15th that includes a loan offer in the amount they are eligible for. Information on your My City Aid account will provide instructions on how to begin the application process.

If you wish to apply for a loan, but did not indicate so on your FAFSA , please check you're my City Aid Account after September 15th to confirm that you have not been offered one. If no loan has been offered, please contact our office and we will review your eligibility and make the appropriate award.

Thank you for your patience during this very busy time!

STUDENT FEES INCREASE TO $26 beginning Fall 2009

You may be wondering . . .

  • How will this impact me and my financial aid?
  • What action do I need to take?

The fee increase will result in an increased Cost of Attendance for all students, and you will see this change reflected on your My City Aid online account. In most cases, it will not change your eligibility for financial aid.

If you received a BOG Fee Waiver, the amount of your waiver will be increased to reflect the new fee amount. This increase will happen automatically, and there is nothing more that you need to do.

If you filed a FAFSA and applied for the BOG Fee Waiver, but were not eligible for the waiver, you may be eligible now because the Cost of Attendance has increased. The financial aid office will be reviewing all previously ineligible applications and will notify you if your eligibility has changed. There is nothing more that you need to do.

If you are enrolled less than half-time and have been awarded a Pell Grant, you may be eligible for an increase in this grant because the Cost of Attendance has increased. The financial aid office will be reviewing all Pell Grant awards for less than half time students and will notify you if your eligibility has changed. There is nothing more that you need to do.

The Financial Aid Office will be working over the few weeks to review the above scenarios, update eligibility as needed, and communicate any changes with you directly. Thank you for your patience during this time.
