What are the requirements for receiving financial aid?
There are a number of requirements that must be met before a student is considered eligible for financial aid. Students must:
- Demonstrate financial need;
- Be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen (see definitions for an explanation of eligible non-citizen);
- Not be in default on a Perkins Loan, National Direct Student Loan, Stafford Loan, Guaranteed Student Loan, PLUS Loan, or Supplemental Loan for Students;
- Not owe a refund on a Pell Grant or Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant;
- Be making satisfactory progress (see Satisfactory Academic Progress policy);
- Agree to use any federal student aid solely for educational purposes;
- Have earned a high school diploma or GED/proficiency certificate, or have passed the Ability to Benefit test or successfully completed 6 degree applicable units;
- submit all requested documentation to the Financial Aid Office.
Additionally, men are required to register with the Selective Service System upon reaching the age of 18 years of age.
