Application
All Los Rios Colleges: American River, Cosumnes River, Sacramento City and Folsom Lake use the same application. By submitting the application, you can enroll in classes at any of our colleges. International Students (F/M/J student status) have college specific requirements and may apply online, but additional information is required before final SCC admission is approved.
To be officially admitted to the college, you must apply for admission at: www.scc.losrios.edu. You will be issued a Student Id number, which you will need to use throughout your stay at SCC. Get help filling out your Los Rios Application at the Registration & Financial Aid Lab in Business Building, Room 153. Admissions and Records is located in Rodda Hall North Room 159.
Orientation is designed to inform you about:
- Sacramento City College policies and procedures.
- Support services available to students.
- Rights and responsibilities - yours and the College's.
- Preparation for counseling appointment.
(This component is complete once you have completed the PRACTICE EXERCISES and submitted them.)

Assessment is an evaluation process that:
- Will reflect your level of performance in reading, writing and mathematics.
- Will show educational strengths and needs and can provide useful information for planning a course of study at Sacramento City College.
- Will be needed by a counselor when helping you develop an academic plan.
(This component is complete once you take the Assessment and have your results.)
Counseling/Advising will help you:
- Clarify and establish appropriate career and educational goals.
- Develop a Counselor Approved Planner (CAP)
- Resolve personal or academic issues that may impact your academic success.
- Counselors are available on a drop-in basis.
This component is complete once you have met with a Sacramento City College COUNSELOR) Note: Prior to meeting with a counselor, you should complete orientation.
Enrollment can occur after meeting with a counselor to develop a Counselor Approved Planner (CAP).
Financial Aid
If you are interested in applying for Financial Aid, begin the process as early as possible. You may also qualify for a Bog Fee Waiver based on your income or if you are currently receiving TANF, General Assistance, or SSI.
For Financial Aid assistance, you can receive assistance with applying for Financial Aid in the Registration & Financial Aid Lab in the Business Building Room 153.
