CalWORKs Job Services

The CalWORKs Work Study Program (CWSP) was designed to help CalWORKs students meet their CalWORKs Welfare to Work requirements and obtain marketable job skills related to their current education/training goals (see CWSP brochure).

The CalWORKs Work Study Program allows CalWORKs students to:

*Work 20 hours per week to meet WTW requirements
*Gain valuable skills and work experience in their chosen feild
*Keep 100% of their monthly CalWORKs grant (CalWORKs work study is excluded income!)
 

 To qualify a CalWORKs student must:

  • First, attend a CalWORKs Orientation/Intake session
  • Second, meet with a CalWORKs counselor and complete your educational assessment and planning process, discover the number of hours you need to work in order to fulfill your county's work activity requirement.
  • CWSP participants must be enrolled as Sacramento City College students.
  • CWSP participants must also be making satisfactory academic progress in a minimum of 6 units per full-length semester and 1 unit during the Summer semester.

After meeting the qualifications, you may request an appoinment from the front desk staff with the CalWORKs Work Study Program Job Developer, Minh Tran for an employment assessment interview, job readiness workshops, and referral to interviews of potential employers or employment opportunities.
