Career Assessments

Assessments are tools that you can use to determine your work-related preferences. They will help you to make more informed career decisions. Career assessment results can be greatly enhannced when combined with career counseling. Students are encouraged to schedule an appointment to review results with a counselor.

The following are career assessments available at the Career Center:

*EUREKA PROGRAM www.eureka.org

Eureka is a database and career exploration tool used for identifying and planning careers. The program is available on the Internet and in the Career Center. The information is updated bi - annually and based on statistics from the U.S. Department of Labor.

Topics covered in Eureka program include:

  • Career Exploration
  • Self Exploration
  • Financial Aid, Scholarships and Grants

*Micro Skills IV (Eureka Program)

Approximate length: 30 minutes

An assessment that assists with the evaluation and prioritization of your work - related skills. Helps identify skills gained from previous occupations and match your skills to specific careers.

*Occ - U - Sort (Eureka Program)

Approximate length: 30 minutes

A 36 question self - exploration tool used to match your career preferences with specific occupations.

*True Colors (Eureka Program)

Approximate length: 15 minutes

Helps you to connect your personality characteristics to specific occupations and identifies your natural strengths and talents to be best utilized in your career and personal life.

*Self - Directed Search (Holland Code)

Come into the Career Center to get assistance with taking the SDS.

Taking the Self - Directed Search will determine your 3 - letter Holland Code that will help you find the careers that best match your interests and abilities.

*Myers/Briggs Type Indicator (Requires Counselor referral)

Approximate length: 60 minutes

A personality assessment based on Carl Jung's theories of 16 different personality types that will assist you in determining and clarifying your work - related preferences. Topics include:

  • Working with others
  • Work environment
  • Taking in and processing information

*Strong Interest Inventory (Requires Counselor referral)

Approximate length: 60 minutes

This inventory is used to help you understand your work - related interests and match that information with some possible career titles.
