Initial Appointment: (Screening Appointment)
- A patient's first visit will take approximately 20 minutes.
- The case difficulty will be assessed to determine if this is an appropriate teaching case.
- A brief health history will be followed by a brief oral exam.
- The need for x-rays will be determined and taken at this time if appropriate.
- There is no charge for this visit.
- Easy cases will be assigned to the spring and summer clinics only.
- Difficult cases will be assigned to fall, spring & summer clinics.
- After the screening appointment, all cleaning appointments are 2-3 hours in length.
- Difficult patients usually require more than one visit.
- Besides a thorough cleaning, appointments involve:
- Medical & Dental Histories
- Oral Hygiene instructions
- Periodontal Examination & Periodontal Probing
- Local Anesthesia (Novocaine) is available if needed
- This is a separate appointment from the cleaning appointments.
- Please allow about 1 1/2 hours for a Full Mouth X-ray (20 Films).
- For x-rays needed by the students for your cleaning: There is no charge.
- For x-rays requested by your dentist: The cost is $20.00. The x-rays must be requested by that dentist. (A written prescription is required.) The x-rays are mailed directly to the dentist. (They are the property of the dentist The x-rays are not diagnosed at the clinic.
