We are no longer hiring for the fall semester. Check back later in the semester for information about applying to be a writing tutor for the spring 2012 semester.
Tutors at the Writing Center must be SCC students enrolled in at least six units. They also must have completed English Writing 300 or the equivalent with an A or a B.
Tip for Interviewing
The best way to be well-prepared for any interview is to find out something about the position before you interview. Look at the Writing Center website (particularly the descriptions of tutoring), talk to people who work here if you know anyone who does, or check out the Bedford Guide for Writing Tutors from the SCC Library and read a little of it (chapter 3 is a good place to begin). If you want to convince the staff members who interview you that you have the potential to be a good writing tutor, you will have an advantage if you do a little research and find out what writing tutors do before you come to the interview.
