1. APPLY FOR ADMISSION TO SACRAMENTO CITY COLLEGE
- To be officially admitted to the college, you must apply for a student ID number on-line at www.scc.losrios.edu. The link for the online application can be found here. You will be issued a Student ID number after completing and submitting an online application to the school. Please contact the Admissions and Records office, (916) 558-2351, or visit their office in the Rodda North building for questions regarding student ID numbers.
- Assessment of your reading, writing, and math skills is highly recommended, as well as attending an orientation to the college and meeting with a counselor. The Assessment Center is located in Student Services 121. The Orientation office and Counseling Center are also located in the Rodda North building.
2. PREPARE FOR THE COSMETOLOGY PROGRAM.

THE FIRST COURSE THAT ALL STUDENTS MUST COMPLETE AND PASS WITH A “C” GRADE IS COSMETOLOGY 100

COSM 100 is a prerequisite course for ALL Cosmetology courses and programs. It is a 2 unit course that covers basic rules and regulations of the campus and cosmetology department and costs of uniform, kit, book, and supplies.

When COSM 100 is completed with at least a “C” grade, you can register for COSM 110 and COSM 111 or you can register for the COSM 150 and 151 (Nail Technology).

COSM 100 is a 36 hours course that meets daily for 1 week. COSM 100 will be offered prior to the Summer and Spring semesters. Check SCC’s Summer and Spring schedules for specific dates and times.
- It is extremely important to be on time for the course. Tardiness could result in being dropped from the course.
Our next COSM 100 prerequisite class is scheduled for Monday, June 11, 2012 through Friday, June 15, 2012 from 8:00 am to 3:45 pm in the SCC Cosmetology Building, classroom CM 102.
- When COSM 100 is successfully completed (“C” grade or higher) a certificate will be issued to you that you present to COSM 110/111 or COSM 150/151 instructors to show that you have met the prerequisite for the class.
- TRANSFER or LICENSED STUDENTS: Students who have previously completed hours from a public or private cosmetology program must enroll and complete the COSM 100 prerequisite class with at least a “C” grade.
3. ENROLL IN COSM 100
