Borrow Textbooks
Some textbooks for classes taught at the West Sacramento Center can be borrowed for up to two hours. These books are held at the Arthur F. Turner Community Library, across the parking lot from the West Sacramento Center. To check if the Center has a particular textbook, look for it in the LOIS catalog; "SCC-West Sac-Turner Library" will be listed under "Location". Let us show you how: watch our videos on searching for textbooks by keyword (the more reliable method) or by course/professor. Or, see our list of currently available textbooks.

Check Out Books
Books, DVDs, and other library materials can be delivered to West Sacramento from any Los Rios library. When you find the item you want in the LOIS catalog, click the Request button. You will be prompted to fill out a form; under "Pickup Location," choose "SCC West Sac Center." The items will arrive in 2-4 days and can be checked out at the Information Desk of the Arthur F. Turner Library. For a demonstration, watch this video:
Most materials can be checked out for three weeks. To renew your books online, go to the "My Record" section of the LOIS catalog.

All subscription databases and e-books can be accessed directly from outreach center computer labs. Currently enrolled students, faculty, and staff can access these resources from off campus; you will be prompted to enter your Los Rios ID and password.
Use Yolo County and Sacramento Public Libraries
The Arthur C. Turner Community Library branch of the Yolo County Library is located just across the parking lot from the West Sac Center. Make use of its book, periodical, and video collection, study space, and computers. Get a Yolo County and/or Sacramento Public Library card to expand your selection of books and access additional full-text databases. Bring valid California photo ID and proof of current residence (such as a utility bill) to any branch library to get your card. Sacramento Public Library also offers temporary e-cards.

For Faculty
Please consider having a librarian come to your class for an orientation or availing yourself of one of our online options. You will see the results in your students' work! If you have an extra copy of a textbook assigned for your class that you would like to have placed on reserve at the West Sac Center, please bring it to Ashu Mishra in the main office.
