Math Competency for Graduation

Math Competency for Graduation Exam is a test that students take to satisfy their Competencies for Los Rios AA/AS Degree.

Students who have catalog year 2009-2010 or later may take the  Intermediate Algebra Competency test.

Students who have catalog year 2008-2009 and earlier may take the Elementary Algebra Competency test.

To ensure that students receive the correct exam, students are required to meet with a counselor before coming to the Assessment Center in order to determine which Mathematics Competency exam they should take to satisfy their graduation requirement.

Retest Policy

Math Competency for Graduation test may be taken no more than four times in any two year period and no more than twice in a semester or once during the summer session.

Elementary Algebra Competency:

  • Paper and pencil testing
  • 35 questions for 30 minutes
  • NO calculator is permitted
  • You must bring a blue Math Competency Information Form from a counselor on the day of the test
  • The result is available immediately after completion of the test
  • The test result is valid forever

 

Intermediate Algebra Competency:

  • Paper and pencil testing
  • 20 questions for 60 minutes
  • NO calculator is permitted
  • You must bring a blue Math Competency Information Form from a counselor on the day of the test
  • The result is available immediately after completion of the test
  • The test result is valid forever
