Computer Labs

Computer lab services are provided to support student success.

Open labs are available to all enrolled SCC students. Additionally, there is an open Registration/Financial Aid lab. Department specific labs are open to students enrolled corresponding courses.

Lab hours are subject to change and may vary throughout the semester. Please contact lab for Open-Access hours.

Wireless GoPrint Stations are located in select labs. Each lab with access is listed below and has a unique web link for use.

Open to Los Rios students enrolled in GCOM and EDT courses, students whose coursework requires access to specialized software or equipment in the Design Lab, or by referral.

Disability Resource Center Assistive Technology Lab (DRC)

In order to insure quality and focused service, the assistive technology computer lab is only open to those with a referral from the Disability Resource Center.

English as a Second Language Center (ESL)

Students must have a referral and be enrolled in English as a Second Language (ESL) course in order to use the ESL Center’s resources. There is no drop-in lab, computing services or editing help available at this lab.

The SCC ESL Center is a multimedia language laboratory for students enrolled in ESL Center Classes. We offer self-paced instruction and one-to-one interaction with an ESL instructor and tutors.

The Language and Literature Computer Lab

This lab (Rodda Hall South 326) offers support for students conducting research and writing papers.  It both accommodates scheduled classes and offers drop-in times.  Any SCC student may use the lab during drop-in times.

The lab is usually closed on Fridays for drop-in use.

Resources available: Installed programs include only Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

Math Lab

The SCC Math Lab offers drop-in tutoring support in Math, Physics, Chemistry, Statistics and a variety of other Math-related courses and pursuits.  It is open to all students who are enrolled in 1 or more units at SCC.

Reading Lab

The English Reading Lab (located in RHS 329) houses ENGLB 55, a credit/no credit course with its own text and computer practice materials provided in lab. It is designed primarily to support the students in the four levels of (primarily native-speaker) Reading classes (ENGRD 10, ENGRD 11, ENGRD 110, and ENGRD 310). However, students may enroll independently in ENGLB 55, whether or not they are co-enrolled in a Reading course.

Students wanting homework help on a drop-in basis may come during Friday “open lab.”  The lab offers practice in all areas of reading comprehension (identifying the main idea, making inferences, etc.) and in vocabulary development. Tutors are available to provide one-on-one help to students as they do their lab practice work.
