At SCC, you, our staff, are vitally important to the success of our students and to the effective execution of all college operations. To that end, the Classified Handbook clarifies those policies and practices that help best support our college and encourages participation, collaboration and respect.
SCC Classified staff are important at every level — from service counters and labs, to District and statewide communication, meetings and development activities. On campus, Classified staff participate in joint meetings, which strengthens communication, and serve on committees and standing committees, which promotes shared governance and identifies a variety of ways they can become engaged. In addition, Classified staff hold “Connections” training, share ideas for professional development and host fundraisers for scholarships. Staff also participate in even broader activities that contribute to the development of policies and the well-being of our employees and students.
It is the SCC standard for all constituents within the college to assume responsibility and enjoy the benefits of improved communication and organizational effectiveness. The Classified Handbook goes a long way toward accomplishing this goal, and I join the Classified Senate in welcoming you to access the Handbook as a resource and guide to enhance your engagement and empowerment as we work together to achieve our college’s mission.
Thank you for your commitment to excellence, service and our community.
