Counseling Services

The Counseling Center is a great place to plan your future, with information and a variety of services for your success.

Peak Days

Urgent Services Only. During PEAK days (early in the semester), Counseling wants to see students who have matters that need attention to get started for THIS semester.  If your matter can wait until after peak, we will be happy to help you then.

Bilingual Services

We offer counseling services in Spanish, Vietnamese, Chinese, and Russian.

News:  Have you been told a course is ineligible for financial aid?

Academic

Academic Counseling Services

Counseling Faculty are available to assist you in clarifying and planning your academic goals.

We can provide you with:

  •  information on certificates, associate degrees, and/or transfer options
  • a complete educational plan (iSEP) that charts your educational path
  • advise on preparation and requirements for transfer to CSU, UC, Private and Out-of State Universities

Career

Career Counseling Services

A career goal should be based on your own unique interests, personal values, aptitude, and life experiences. You and your Counselor can explore and select the best major and career goal for you.

Resources and workshops in the Career Center are highly recommended.

Personal

Personal Counseling Services

We recognize that life does not always run smoothly. Going to school and dealing with obstacles can be a stressful experience. SCC Counseling Faculty provide confidential, short-term, non-therapeutic counseling to help students with life issues that may interfere with academic success.

Crisis

Crisis intervention services are available to students who are experiencing acute emotional distress and require immediate attention.  Please remember, if you are experiencing a health or mental health emergency after hours, please call 911.
