BEFORE YOU CONDUCT A JOB SEARCH, READ THIS: A warning about scam and fraudulent job postings
Be careful as you conduct your job search. Fraudulent and scam job postings do exist and people will try to take your money or gain access to your personal information. If the offer sounds too good to be true, maybe it is. Do your research and don't give out your social security number or bank account and credit card information. Don't deposit checks from unknown sources, especially when they ask for some money back. Be very careful of "home businesses" that require you to make an investment first. The handout "A warning about scam and fraudulent job postings" provides more detail on specific types of job scams.
If you ever have any doubt or questions about a job posting, contact SCC's Career Center at 916-558-2565.
