Aaron Winters — a graduate of Sacramento City College’s Graphic Communication department — is the graphic designer, illustrator and fine artist behind Abide Visuals (AVMJ) and publisher of the Exit Strategy art annual series. Although the creative director for a non-profit full-time, a strong drive to excel and achieve in the creative arts has led to a very broad practical design experience — as well as his adjunct professorship at SCC.

Aaron began his professional development as a junior designer at the New Times alternative newsweekly in San Luis Obispo, California, in 1995. In 2002, Aaron started taking on clients through his Abide Visuals design studio while promoting art exhibitions and creating personal projects. Aaron has served as webmaster for Vapors magazine and has provided art direction for Color Skateboarding, California Landscaping, THELEGEND and Fork It magazines and the Weird Forest and Claire’s Echo record labels. AVMJ was recognized with a Merit honor for package design in the 2006 HOW Magazine International Design Annual and was included in the 2007 Design Biennial at the Pasadena Museum of California Art.

His illustration work can be found in in the pages of the Semi-permanent06 (AUS) and iDN’s Vinyl Will Kill (HK) books as well as numerous other art annuals and magazines.

Aaron has also lectured on design and underground communities at the university level, having spoken at the Crocker Art Museum and co-curated ADAC’s Spoken With Eyes design retrospective at the UC Davis Design Museum in June 2006.
