Math/Stats Tutoring Lab

Home Student Resources Math/Stats Tutoring Lab

The Math/Stats Tutoring Lab is here to support and guide you when you need a boost in your math or stats class.

Beyond accessing tutoring online or in-person to help you, we also have a safe space for you to:

  • sit and study alone or with friends
  • get a tour of campus, or ask questions on navigating campus that we will either know or find somebody who does
  • warm up your lunch
  • have some coffee (we have a coffee maker we make a pot every morning)

You can also borrow math-related books to read and use the lab’s computers.

For those with basic food needs, we work to stock a donation-based supply for things like ramen and oatmeal. Access to this limited food pantry is for math/stats lab enrolled students only. We also work with our food pantry and CalFresh on Thursdays for things like oranges, carrots, apples, and bananas.

Some professors hold their office hours in the math/stats support lab, and we often have special events called “Math Jams” that will be advertised where you can really dive into your course to catch up or move ahead of the material in the class. Math Jams will alternate between:

  • Support classes such as the MathS courses and Stat 10
  • Math 333
  • Stats 300 and 480

We are inclusive of all students, and strive to have an intersectional perspective.

How to Enroll

To enroll in the Math/Stats Lab, add HSER 1000 Supervised Tutoring (Section 16025) to your schedule as you would add any course via eServices.

This 0-credit course gives you access to all the Math/Stats Lab resources and allows us to schedule tutors to best meet student needs.

You can also enroll by visiting us in Learning Resource Center LRC-144, where we can guide you through the process.
