In an effort to improve student and staff access to Los Rios systems, District Office IT will be performing network maintenance on Sunday, August 9th.
On August 9th, from 6:00am – 9:00am, all sites within the District will experience a network outage.  During this period, ALL Los Rios systems will be unavailable to both internal and external users.  We understand the inconvenience this will cause, but the work being done must be completed prior to the start of the Fall semester.

SCC IT is currently using a product called Lumension to push out software updates such as Java, Adobe products, Firefox and Silverlight to computers. Computers must be up and running (no sleeping mode) to be able to receive updates. It is unobtrusive software, it installs silently in the background and you can continue working during the update process.

If your machine is not updated, the software will continually try and patch the computer. At the end of the update, a reboot maybe required, a notice will be given; you can delay the reboot for up to an hour.

Lumension notice to restart your computer.

Lumension Tips:

  • If a reboot is required please save your work.
  • Any software that is more current on your machine will not be overwritten.
  • Pretesting is done before any updates are pushed out.

If you have any questions we contact the IT department, x2222.
