Beacon PAL Learning Groups

A Beacon PAL is a trained peer tutor who meets with you, the instructor, and then facilitates group study sessions with students in your class, focusing on the content areas you want covered. 

Program Highlights:

  • based on the supplemental instruction model (SI)
  • bi-weekly group tutoring sessions
  • instructor chooses the student tutor
  • the tutor successfully completed (A or B grade) the class
  • consistent tutoring schedule
  • frequent interaction and dialogue between instructor and tutor
  • group tutor training course must be completed during the tutor’s first semester (LTAT 311)
