LTAT 311: Introduction to Group Peer Tutoring

This course meets the Title 5 requirement that “all tutors successfully complete instruction in tutoring methods and use of appropriate written and mediated instructional materials including supervised practice tutoring.”

LTAT 311 trains students to become Beacon Pal tutors who collaborate with specific instructors and classes. The course focuses on the dynamics of tutoring and learning in a group setting.

Student Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  • analyze tutees’ tutoring goals and learning objectives.
  • create tutorial plans for tutees.
  • integrate effective learning skills in working with students.
  • articulate how cultural diversity influences tutoring and learning.
  • demonstrate effective active listening, questioning, and speaking skills in a group setting.
