Faculty Resources

  • Electronic Tutoring Referral

You no longer need to sign referrals for individual students; you can refer all of the students in your classes simply by selecting the convenient radio button located in Intranet (Rosters/SOCRATES) on the page listing all of your classes.

  • Class Orientations and Presentations

We will conduct a short orientation about the Learning Skills and Tutoring Center services for each of your classes.  In addition to the orientation, on request, we will present brief study strategy mini-workshop that will enable your students to learn more effectively while in or out of the classroom.

  • Beacon PAL Group Tutoring

A Beacon PAL is a trained peer tutor who meets with you, the instructor, and then facilitates group study sessions with students in your class, focusing on the content areas you want covered.

  • Tutor Training Courses

We offer tutor training courses that focus on the role of a peer tutor and methods of effective individual and group tutoring. Training is required of all tutors in the Learning Resource Center and for Beacon PAL tutors.

  • College Success Workshops

The Learning Skills and Tutoring Center presents informative workshops called “College Success Workshops.”  The topics are geared not only towards improving academic performance but also towards improving overall success in a college environment. Please encourage your students to attend or suggest a workshop topic.
