Congratulations on choosing Sacramento City College as a path in your educational journey! We are here to help you prepare for a bright future full of endless possibilities. Whether you plan to transfer, earn a degree or certificate, or take classes for personal enrichment, you will find a very broad array of courses and services to get you where want to go. For almost 100 years, students in the Sacramento metropolitan area, and in its suburbs, have engaged SCC as an important and proud partner in fulfilling their dreams. It is with a dedication to access through affordability and transportation options, a spirit of support through student services, and a focus on student success through outstanding quality in education that I invite you to explore this catalog to learn more about SCC.

SCC is an energetic and collaborative member of the Sacramento community. Set in the heart of the City, we pride ourselves on being a campus that nurtures and encourages diversity in our student body, staff, faculty, and courses. Our myriad campus programs seek to inform and inspire students while promoting understanding and unity among all groups. We embrace and celebrate those qualities that make us, as human beings, unique as well as those that make us alike. You will leave SCC not only with superior academic knowledge, but with a greater capacity for navigating an ever-changing local and global community.

Whether you're interested in studying trigonometry, creative writing, business or music, SCC faculty members are among the most outstanding in the area. You will receive the best caliber of instruction possible-for a lot less money! Research shows that students who attend SCC perform as well as or better than students who start at a four-year college or university. Take advantage of our small class sizes and get to know your professors. And visit the SCC Transfer Center to ensure a smooth transition along your educational or career pathway.

At the main SCC campus or at Centers located in Downtown, West Sacramento or Davis, you will find an atmosphere that is humming with supportive energy and faculty, staff and administrators who are committed and caring about our diverse community of learners. At every level, we seek to demonstrate that our primary mission is to help you succeed.

  • Visit the Student Support Services section of this catalog for descriptions of all of college programs and services.
  • Get help with college finances. Apply for a Board of Governors Fee Waiver, a Pell Grant, a scholarship, or even a loan.
  • Check out SCC's student organizations. This is an excellent way to build networks with other students who share your interests and academic goals
  • Make getting to the main campus simple by taking Regional Transit or light rail directly to City College Station. Your Student Access card is your reduced rate transit pass and it's good seven days a week during the fall and spring semesters.

Thank you for choosing Sacramento City College! I am confident you will find this part of your journey enlightening, rewarding and enjoyable because at SCC, we "seek to create a learning community that celebrates diversity, nurtures personal growth, and inspires academic and economic leadership."

Most sincerely,

Kathryn E. Jeffery Signature
