U-CAN! - United College Action Network

U-CAN! is a California Nonprofit organization that provides leadership, services and assistance to students who wish to gain enrollment in a four-year Historically Black College or University (HBCU). Since 1988, more than 15,000 students have received services from U-CAN! Since 1999 alone, more than 2,150 high school seniors have been accepted to an HBCU and over 600 have received scholarships. Additionally, since 1999, U-CAN! has also acquired more than $17,400,000 in scholarship monies on behalf of students. U-CAN! provides information and/or assistance to various California school districts regarding the following:

  • Outreach, Recruitment, Support and Resource Information (for 30-40 colleges)
  • Student & Parent Consultation and Workshops
  • Course Selection & Career Development Assistance
  • College Preparedness Including SAT/ACT Testing
  • Admission/Scholarship Eligibility Consultation
  • Review of Transcripts
  • Financial AID & Scholarships
  • Housing
  • Personal Counseling/Support Services
  • Black College Tour
  • Leadership Development & Training
  • Home Visits
  • Annual College Fair with On-the-Spot Admissions & Scholarships
  • End of School Year Networking Events
  • Visitations to Colleges Serving U-CAN! students
