The “Getting In” Process

This is the series of steps that all first-time new college students should participate in, also known as the Matriculation Process, or 'Getting In” process.  Use this as a checklist to help you get started!

1. Application and Admission - Getting started!
To be officially admitted to the college, you must first apply, which can be done online.  You will be issued a Student ID number, which you will use many times during your journey at SCC.

2. Assessment - Getting placed!
A schedule of dates for English, English as a Second Language (ESL) or math assessment tests is available online in pdf format.  Get your results at the Assessment Center, in Student Services 121.

3. Orientation - Getting acquainted!
Orientation gives first-time college students priority 1 registration rights - you get to enroll sooner! You will also receive information on programs and services as well as help in scheduling your classes.  Use our online orientation, or call the office at 916.558.2145 to schedule an appointment.

4. Counseling/Advising - Getting guidance!
After orientation you will be referred to the Counseling Office for advisement in course selection and information on our programs of study and majors to choose from.

5. Enrollment/Registration - Getting in!
After orientation you'll receive enrollment dates and times. You can enroll in classes online, or in person and Admissions and Records

6. Financial Aid - Getting help!
Apply online at the Financial Aid Web Site or in person at the Financial Aid office in Rodda North 167. Apply as soon as possible to receive help with books, enrollment fees, transportation and more.

7. Student Services and Student Access Card
Now that you are enrolled check out the many services available to students and get your student access pass which can be used as your official college ID, Regional Transit Pass, College library Card, GoPrint Card and Discount Card at Participating Stores.
