Instructional Media and Academic Computing

The Instructional Media and Academic Computing Department provides access to non-print library resources, audio-visual equipment, two computer labs, and an electronic classroom. Students must have a current Student Access Card to check out media materials. In order to use computer equipment, students must be enrolled in HS 1000 and agree to track each lab visit. Computer labs are available for academic purposes to currently enrolled students.

Instructional Media Resources:

• Videotape and Audiotape Programs (over 6,000 programs on a variety of subjects)
• Audiotape Duplicating Stations
• Two Listening Stations
• 10 Viewing Stations
• Three LOIS Stations
• CD ROM Access
• Online Resources (reference assistance for students using electronic databases and the Internet)
• Reserve Materials (instructional support media materials placed on reserve by instructors for student use)
• Small Group Viewing Rooms (may be reserved in advance)

Academic Computing Resources:

• LRC 144, the Learning Resource Center Lab, provides access to 40 PC stations (including two Adaptive Computer Station)
• B 153, the Business Building Lab, provides access to 64 PC stations (including two Adaptive Computer Station)

All of the computers offer Internet access and the MS Office Suite.

Faculty Services

Equipment: The following equipment circulates to faculty for classroom use. A current library card is required. Reservations are recommended as equipment is in heavy demand. Call Shawn Ledet at 916-558-2362 to for reservations except where noted.

Media Materials Requests: Faculty recommendations are encouraged in the selections of media materials. Please contact Nicole Woolley at 916-558-2509 or woollen@scc.losrios.edu for further information.

Computer Classroom: Faculty may reserve the 28-station computer lab in the LRC for occasional class use. Please call 916-558-2099 at least two weeks in advance to reserve the classroom.
