This course will empower you with Information Competency skills necessary to conduct academic or personal research. It provides a step-by-step guide to the research process that is applicable to term papers, course work, and life-long learning. It emphasizes developing effective search strategies, selecting information tools, locating and retrieving information sources, analyzing and critically evaluating information, organizing and using information.
How This Course
Works
This class will be conducted entirely online.
After the course orientation we will not see each other again, unless you choose
to. I will provide more contact information at the orientation.
Each week you will be required to read the
Online Lecture (which will send you to various websites), complete the Homework
Assignment (which may require you to visit a local library), and participate in
the Class Discussion (I will provide weekly topics). This is not a self-paced
course. Modules will be uploaded on a weekly basis; you will have seven days to
complete your assignments.
