Observatory Open to Public on Sept. 2

Friday, Sept. 2, is the first Open Observatory for the Fall 2016 semester. It will start at 8:30 p.m. For those who do not know, the Observatory is located on the roof of Rodda Hall South. It does require going up and down a set of stairs.

Featured objects include:

  • Saturn
  • Mars (which is bright, but small)
  • Ring Nebula
  • The Double Star Albireo
  • M13 (Globular Cluster in Hercules)

As always, this is a FREE event from the SCC Astronomy Program. It is on the first Friday of each month during the Fall and Spring semesters.

It is open to the public. Children over 5 are welcome.

Other information about the astronomy program in general or our astronomy public outreach can be found on the SCC website.

Weather updates can be found at (916) 558-2423. Be sure to check this by 7 p.m. Friday.

Hope to see you there!
