Brenda Navarrete is a sophomore majoring in Chicano and Latino Studies with an eventual hope to become a lawyer. She is also a “Dreamer” or AB 540 student, which means that she is an undocumented student. Brenda moved to the U.S. when she was just 3, and has worked steadily to become a successful student. She is involved with the Extended Opportunities and Programs for Students (EOPS) on campus and receives some financial assistance through the DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) program.
“We came here to do, not just to sit and watch,” she said.
Brenda was one of three students recently interviewed by Telemundo Channel 33, for a story about what President-elect Donald Trump has stated his administration’s policy toward undocumented students will entail.
