More than 75 people attended the Young Men Emerging Leadership awards program at SCC.
Students were able to invite family and friends to join in the celebration. SCC President Michael Gutierrez, Vice President of Student Services Michael Poindexter and Interim Vice President of Instruction Don Palm were present to congratulate the recipients.
The Cultural Awareness Center has hosted this awards program for the last 13 years. The men are SCC students nominated by faculty and staff. To be considered, students need to have excelled in one or more of these areas: have a 3.7 or higher GPA; be a community leader; overcome obstacles; have a non-traditional career path (for example, nursing); and/or be a scholar athlete.
Over the years, more than 400 students have received this distinguished award.
