Federal support for Career Education (CE) programs comes from the Carl D. Perkins Act. Districts are allocated Perkins IV, Title 1 C funding using a formula based on the number of economically disadvantaged Career Technical Education students enrolled.
The funding aims to improve, enhance or expand CE programs, integrate academic and career technical instruction, serve special populations, and meet gender equity needs. One of the requirements for use of the funding is to meet the employment needs of local industry and conduct annual industry advisory meetings to gather information on meeting those needs.
