Dr. Springer has worked in higher education for 20 years and her focus, throughout her career, has been on developing programs and initiatives which attend to the needs of disproportionally impacted students.
Dr. Springer has served in a number of appointments including Assistant Dean of Student Life & Assistant Director of Native American Studies at the University of Illinois; Coordinator for the Native American Collaboration project in the School of Psychology at San Diego State University; Assistant Dean of Student Life and Director of the Native American Program at Dartmouth College, and Coordinator for Living and Learning Communities at California State University, Monterey Bay. Dr Springer co-authored a chapter included in the 2012 Stylus publication; Beyond the Asterisk: Understanding Native Students in Higher Education (Shotton, Lowe, and Waterman, 2012), is on the board for the National Coalition for the Advancement of Native Higher Education (NCANHE), and has served as Chair of the Native American Network for the American College Personnel Association.
Dr. Springer’s dissertation was entitled: “NATIVE STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS AS A HIGH IMPACT PRACTICE: Native Student’s Perceptions of the Effect of Participation in a Native Student Organization on Academic and Personal Success at Predominately White Institutions.” Dr. Springer joined Sacramento City College in February, 2016. Dr. Springer is excited to share in the journey of student success and equity with SCC, and looks forward to the work ahead.
