Equity Officer & Hiring the Best for Diverse Workforce

The Equity Officer is responsible for ensuring that campus processes are fair and equitable in their interface with students, faculty, and staff; hiring the best for a diverse workforce.  Hiring processes and the assignment of Equity Representatives on hiring committees are part of this responsibility. All members of the campus community have the right to work and study in an environment that supports a diversity of backgrounds and perspectives.

Any employee who wants to serve on a hiring or interview committee must complete Hiring the Best (HTB) training. To serve as an equity representative on a hiring or interview committee, an employee must complete the Equity Representative (ER) training. Training can be completed at the district or at any of the four colleges. HTB/ER training sessions are good for two years. After two years, the employee must renew the training sessions in order to serve on a hiring or interview committee.
