Libraries: who, why, and how

In April, the display area of the Library was given over to stories and info about libraries.

Featured were portraits of people currently working in libraries or hoping to in the future.
Woman holding sign reading, "I love working in libraries because every day is a new adventure!" Woman holding sign reading, "I love working in a library because books are my favorite place to get lost in!" Woman holding tablet with screen reading, "I love working in libraries because I get to empower creatives in manifesting their brilliance!" Man kneeling near Library Cycle Kiosk in front of Learning Resource Center, holding sign reading, "In the Library we are all students and we can study any topic. No grades attached."
Library visitors were also encouraged to write messages the topic, “What do you like about the SCC Library?”
"What do you like about the SCC Library?" "Thank God for the staff and a brick and mortar building to come and relax, learn, and study in a quiet atmosphere! Eli "What do you like about the SCC Library?" "Helpful staff; Laptops; Quiet 3rd Floor; snacks are allowed!" "What do you like about the SCC Library?" "It's literally my second home. I spend at least everyday studying in the library right after class." "What do you like about the SCC Library?" "I can relax & focus on what I need to get done."

The SCC Library actually provides a program that trains people to work in libraries: the Library and Information Technology (LIBT) Program. As you can see, working in libraries is a tremendously rewarding career path; if you like being in the library, working to connect people with resources and information and contributing to your community, you should check it out!

Below are some of the books and videos that were included in the display. Explore the possibilities!
