Start Your Research

Find everything. The library provides resources to help you succeed in your courses.

Find Books

When you’re doing research, a good book on your topic is indispensable. SCC has a huge collection of print books ready for your projects. Use OneSearch to find them.

You can easily check out books from other Los Rios Libraries (ARC, CRC, EDC & FLC); just click the Request button in OneSearch and they will be delivered to SCC within days.

Find Articles, Ebooks and More Online

You don’t have to visit the library to find relevant, high-quality articles and ebooks on your research topics. Journals, magazines, newspapers, ebooks and other sources are available online at all times. Entering via the library website, you will be prompted to sign in the same way you sign in to eServices, Canvas and other campus resources.

Most databases will allow you to email yourself copies of articles and download PDF versions. Some will even generate citations for you that you can check for accuracy and include in your bibliography. Whenever you have questions about using databases, be sure to ask a librarian.

Find Videos

DVDs and VHS tapes are kept near the reference section on the second floor of the LRC. You can search for them in the OneSearch. The library has viewing stations, and many items can be taken off-campus.

Use Research Guides

Do you need to find the library’s handouts on MLA or APA citation styles? Did a librarian create an online resource guide for your class? Do you need to know how to download ebooks? Librarians frequently create research guides to help you with your research needs.
