The Occupational Therapy Assistant Program at Sacramento City College serves a wide geographic area throughout northern California. Our students travel from many parts of the region to attend school. Most do not move to Sacramento, hoping to remain in their communities upon graduation.
Fieldwork placements. We are always seeking new clinical sites for our students. Per our accreditation requirements, we must offer two levels of fieldwork in a range of settings. Students at Sacramento City College must complete 20-40 hours of Level I fieldwork in three settings: pediatric, cognitive/behavioral, and physical dysfunction. Level II fieldwork requires two distinct settings, each for 320 hours. Not only does taking fieldwork students support the profession by helping programs provide required clinical experiences, it provides employers an opportunity to observe the abilities of potential employees, reducing recruitment time and costs. If you are interested in participating in this vital aspect of occupational therapy education, please contact our Academic Fieldwork Coordinator, Carlin Daley, at DaleyC@scc.losrios.edu.
Job announcements. Do you have a flyer you’d like us to post? Please send it to us in a PDF format, via email to SCC-OTAInfo@scc.losrios.edu. We will get the information to our students.
Class visits. We welcome potential employers visiting our classes. We often have companies visit during the fall semester, during our Level II fieldwork seminars. Not only is this a critical recruitment opportunity for you, it is still a time to learn for our students. Visitors are encouraged to provide some type of educational presentation on a topic relevant to your setting. As well, we are more than happy to help with ideas for topics. If you would like to schedule a class visit, please contact our Academic Fieldwork Coordinator, Carlin Daley, at DaleyC@scc.losrios.edu.
Advertising materials. If you have extra advertising materials, we would love to share them with our students. At any given time there are about 65 future OTA’s who would like to hear from you. If you would like to send any of these materials, please forward them to:Carlin Daley Occupational Therapy Assistant Program Sacramento City College 3835 Freeport Boulevard Sacramento, CA 95822
