The name of the newspaper changed to The Blotter at the beginning of the 1923 school year. Jeremiah Lillard convinced the students to change the name of the newspaper to The Pony Express on April 8, 1929 (he never liked The Blotter).
During WWII Pony Express was remade to resemble Time magazine. “The Pioneer was little cousin to Life as well as Fortune” magazines, according to The Pioneer of 1945. The name was updated to The Express in February 10, 1972.
