Campus Closure Notice

The health and safety of Sacramento City College students, faculty, and staff is our top priority. In light of the coronavirus (COVID-19), Sacramento City College, its Centers, classes and all departments are closed until further notice.

During this time, the goal of Sacramento City College General Counseling is to provide remote services to assist you in completing your term. Counseling Faculty will be available for appointments by email, phone and limited online appointments. We appreciate your patience.

Please use the online appointment system to schedule an appointment.

The Counseling department provides prospective and current students with comprehensive academic, career, and personal counseling necessary to successfully reach their goals. Counseling services are offered at the Sacramento City College main campus, as well as the Davis and West Sacramento Educational Centers. Bilingual services are available in Spanish, Vietnamese, Chinese, and Russian depending on location.

New, first-time in college students must attend a virtual City Jam.

Counseling services include:

Academic

Counselors provide assistance with certificate/degree requirements, transfer requirements, and college selection preparation for an academic major course selection. Counselors will help new students create an Education Plan during a City Jam.

Career

Career goals should be based on interests, personal values, aptitude, and life experiences. Your counselor can explore and select the best major and career goal for you.

Resources and workshops in the Career Center are highly recommended.

Personal

Counselors provide confidential, short-term, non-therapeutic counseling with personal, family, or work concerns as they relate to educational goals.

Crisis

Crisis services are available to students who are experiencing acute emotional distress and require immediate attention. For assistance, please come directly to the Counseling Center, RN 147 in Rodda North, first floor.

If you are experiencing a medical or psychiatric emergency when the department is closed, please call 911.
