Allied Health Learning Community
The Allied Health Learning Community (AHLC) helps students who are interested in allied health professions to be able to readily access the prerequisite classes needed in college to begin applying to college Health Programs.*
You will receive academic counseling, educational planning, referrals to campus resources, information about allied health programs, and invitations to informational sessions and events from our team of student support professionals.
The AHLC program includes required prerequisites for the following Sacramento City College programs:
- Dental Assisting
- Dental Hygiene
- Occupational Therapy Assisting
- Physical Therapy Assistant
- Community Health Worker
- Registered Nursing
- Vocational Nursing
Students in the AHLC program have priority registration into the sections of classes the AHLC offers. Students are encouraged to complete an AS degree in Nutrition and/or Biology and transfer requirements towards the CSU system.
* Many college allied health programs require prerequisite courses to apply.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we will not be accepting AHLC applications for Summer/Fall 2020. However, we encourage students to participate in the First Year Experience (FYE) at Sacramento City College. The FYE program has a pathway dedicated to health occupations. It provides support to new students and connects students who are interested in health occupation programs to a Student Support Team.
Please visit the FYE website to learn more about the program and submit an application to participate.
