Online Tutoring

Campus Closure Notice

While our campus is closed due to COVID-19, most of our tutoring services have moved online. For additional information, please refer to the Tutoring section on our Online Services page.

Online Services

Whether you are taking online or in-person courses, your success is important to us. That is why Sacramento City College offers several online tutoring options to provide every student the support they need to succeed.

Learning Skills and Tutoring Center Online

You do not need to be enrolled in an online class to get online tutoring through the Learning Skills and Tutoring Center. Just sign up and get the support that can help you succeed.

Sign Up for Tutoring
  1. Complete the LSTC Tutoring Request Form
  2. Enroll in HSER 1000 through your eServices (it’s FREE and won’t show up on your transcripts)
What You’ll Need

In order to access online tutoring, you will need a smartphone with the Zoom app downloaded or a computer with a microphone and internet access. Webcam is optional.

Note: Most newer laptops have built-in webcams and microphones. Most detachable webcams (for desktop computers) have built-in microphones. Detachable webcams can be purchased at major retailers for about $20 to $50.

How It Works
  1. Schedule your appointment date and time with LSTC by calling (916) 558-2258.
  2. Receive your confirmation email from LSTC and follow the instructions to get set up for the online tutoring session. The instructions may include downloading or installing an app or plug-in. Do this well in advance of your appointment in case it takes more time than you expect.
  3. On the day of your appointment, your tutor will call you 5 to 10 minutes before the start of your appointment to ensure you’re all set. At the time of the appointment, click on the link in the email from LSTC to connect to your tutor.

Writing Center Online

The same support available to students in person is also available online! Tutors can assist students of any skill level and in any class/major as a resource for becoming more effective, confident and independent writers.
